About the role
Cross-trained to perform all registration and switchboard duties, you will perform patient registrations and flex work location and scheduled work hours (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) as needed. You will serve as the primary contact for registration staff issues, questions, or concerns, and escalate staff or department concerns to the Registration Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all functions of the registration process are completed accurately and timely to support positive patient experiences.
- Identify problems with application functionality, investigate issues, and resolve problems through the submission of help desk tickets.
- Assist the Registration Supervisor to ensure Hospital and departmental policies and procedures are followed.
- Assist with the creation and necessary updates to staff schedules, ensuring staffing is maintained throughout all registration areas.
- Ensure staff lunches/breaks are completed and department coverage is arranged.
- Organize staff meeting department coverage, record staff attendance, take staff meeting minutes, and provide them to the Registration Supervisor for review prior to distribution.
- Monitor department supplies and submit department supply orders to the Registration Supervisor for approval.
- Serve as the department representative/trainer for Hospital new volunteers.
- Enroll/deactivate revenue cycle users in registration web-based tools such as Ohio MITs, MyCGS, OHTrack, and insurance discovery.
- Assist with Revenue Cycle-specific special projects as requested by the Registration Supervisor/Manager.
- Cross-train and develop an understanding of scheduling practices.
Requirements
- Completion of high school education or equivalent.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in a hospital registration environment.
- Basic understanding of hospital information systems as they relate to the registration department functions, including ED Registration.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance preferred.
- Attain American Heart Association’s BLS certification within the first sixty (60) days of employment and maintain continuous certification.
Schedule
80 hours per pay period on the 2nd shift with occasional weekend and holiday rotation.
