Responsibilities

  • Pre-registration
  • Receiving physician orders
  • Insurance verification
  • Gathering pre-authorizations
  • Scheduling and pre-certifications
  • Producing statistical reports
  • Distributing educational materials to patients and families
  • Performing financial counseling
  • Explaining and obtaining signatures on registration materials and legal forms
  • Seeking clarification on physician orders
  • Entering patient information into the computerized scheduling system
  • Managing files within regulatory requirements
  • Compiling and reporting statistical data
  • Calculating patient liability
  • Collecting deposits and copayments
  • Responding to diverse questions or referring to appropriate clinical staff
  • Providing financial counseling
  • Assisting patient and their families in completing financial assistance paperwork
  • Providing administrative support to the assigned unit
  • Maintaining accurate production logs and records
  • Identifying opportunities to improve work processes

Requirements

Requires skills and abilities typically attained with one (1) or more years of medical clerical experience. Medical terminology knowledge is required. Must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills. Must be proficient with commonly used office software and computers and possess the ability to use computerized scheduling systems. Must be able to maintain accurate statistical records, gather data, and produce reports.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Skills

Prior experience in a hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling setting preferred.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts.
