Registered Nurse- Short Stay Surgery Pre and Post Op, Full Time Days

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina – Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Short Stay Surgery

About the Role

Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Short Stay Surgery includes Pre-Op, Recovery, Discharge, and 4 OR rooms. Patients range from pediatric to geriatric. The care team consists of Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, Unit Clerks, Surgical Technologists, a Resource Nurse, and a Nurse Manager. The unit operates 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with no weekends, major holidays, or call. Shifts vary in start time depending on role.

New Graduate Nurses are not accepted; at least one year of Pre-Op, PACU, ICU, or ED experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and identify care needs
• Organize and plan appropriate patient care using assessment information
• Implement and evaluate patient care plans
• Facilitate a safe environment for patients and staff
• Maintain required competencies and serve as charge nurse when assigned
• Maintain accurate and relevant records of patient care
• Administer medication as ordered by physicians
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening situations
• Establish collaborative relationships with other health system staff and medical staff
• Monitor quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators
• Participate in cost containment and ensure accurate charging for patient services
• Adjust care based on age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs
• Support patients in practicing cultural and spiritual beliefs within medical regimen limits
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent (required)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred)
• Current North Carolina RN licensure or Compact state licensure
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• At least one year of Pre-Op, PACU, ICU, or ED experience

Physical Requirements
