Registered Nurse - Surgical Short Stay

About the role

Novant Health is hiring for a Surgical Short Stay registered nurse for the Night shift at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Schedule

Self-schedule, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Some call required (details discussed during interview).

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a 12-bed post-surgical unit operating 24/7.
• Care for patients awaiting floor availability and those under observation.
• Maintain a typical patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1.
• Guide and support patients through their medical journey.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred).
• Current RN licensure in the appropriate state (required).
• One year of relevant experience (preferred); backgrounds in Med‑Surg, step‑down, or ICU are valued.
• If the RN license has been inactive, retired, or lapsed for five years or more and the candidate has not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board‑approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating the license; must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
