Registered Nurse RN Transport Team

About the Role

As a Transport RN at Banner Health, you will provide patients with a seamless transition throughout the facility by responding to RN-required calls for patients in need of higher-level care transports, including ICU upgrades/downgrades, patients on BiPAP/high flow, and monitored patients. You will also assist transporters with regular calls when available. This is a highly active role, with Transport RNs walking an average of 15,000 steps per day.

Schedule

40 hours per week; 7:00 AM–5:30 PM; Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and every other Saturday or Sunday. Holiday rotation is required. This role includes an 18% night-shift differential and a flat-rate $3/hour weekend shift differential where applicable.

With 391 licensed beds, the hospital provides a wide range of services, including acute medical and surgical services, intensive care, emergency and urgent care, inpatient/outpatient surgery, cardiac catheterization, neurology, orthopedics, oncology, urology, pulmonary, obstetrics and gynecology, outpatient diagnostic services, and adult behavioral services.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
• Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within the appropriate timeframe.
• Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members, diagnostics, and laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
• Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
• Formulates a plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from the patient, family, and health team.
• Initiates a realistic, measurable plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and multidisciplinary team.
• Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs.
• Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities.
• Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision for licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
• Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed.
• Evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
• Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a legible, timely, and compliant manner.
• Provides care based on the best available evidence and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
• Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
• Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes, including participation in professional organizations.
• Interacts with staff, physicians, patients, families, external agencies, and clergy to provide support and coordination of care.
• Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.

Requirements

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
• BLS certification is required.
• Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice.
• Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired.
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work, demonstrated through annual validations.
• Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months.
• For Home Health settings, must be able to operate a personal vehicle with a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.
• For Behavioral Health roles serving children at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, or BUMG/BUMCT, an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is required at hire and must be maintained.
• For Banner Home Care AZ, an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is required at hire and must be maintained.
• For Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health roles in Arizona, a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card is required at hire and must be maintained.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Professional certification preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
