Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care following organizational policies and protocols
- Promote patient safety during operative and invasive procedures using evidence-based practices
- Support the surgical team in maintaining sterility and preparing the operating room
- Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs for personalized care
- Review patient charts for completeness and ensure documentation compliance
- Communicate effectively with patients, team members, and physicians to ensure continuity of care
- Prepare patients and operating room supplies, equipment, and instruments
- Check, troubleshoot, and maintain sterilization of the operating environment
- Position and prepare patients on the operating table, monitor vital signs, and respond to anomalies
- Assist during surgery by passing instruments and maintaining safety standards
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Nurse credential from the Connecticut Department of Public Health
- Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Operating Room Nurse (scrub experience a plus)
