Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Unit

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care following organizational policies and protocols
• Promote patient safety during operative and invasive procedures using evidence-based practices
• Support the surgical team in maintaining sterility and preparing the operating room
• Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs for personalized care
• Review patient charts for completeness and ensure documentation compliance
• Communicate effectively with patients, team members, and physicians to ensure continuity of care
• Prepare patients and operating room supplies, equipment, and instruments
• Check, troubleshoot, and maintain sterilization of the operating environment
• Position and prepare patients on the operating table, monitor vital signs, and respond to anomalies
• Assist during surgery by passing instruments and maintaining safety standards

Requirements

• Licensed Registered Nurse credential from the Connecticut Department of Public Health
• Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Operating Room Nurse (scrub experience a plus)
