Schedule

• Full-time, days
• 40 hours per week
• 6:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., 10-hour shifts
• Variable hours with on-call nights
• Weekend and holiday rotation

How you will contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
• Provides direct patient care on the Medical-Surgical unit using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice
• Communicates effectively with the care team and the patient/family to support safe, high-quality outcomes
• Reports to the Director or Manager of Department

Essential functions

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities
• Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation)
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support)
• Assesses learning needs and delivers age/culture-appropriate patient/family education
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
• Participates in performance improvement and required continuing education
• Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may take on-call assignments
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Pre and Post operative care of patients

Physical requirements (typical)

• Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand/arm movements
• Occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling
• Rare running or climbing
• Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex

Requirements

• Current state RN license
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
• Basic Life Support certification is required
• ACLS and PALS are required
• Handle with Care preferred
