About the role

The Registered Nurse at Haven Behavioral Healthcare is a key leader in milieu management and patient care. This position requires a strong commitment to professional nursing practice, patient safety, and the promotion of wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Identifies and manages patient risks, develops individualized treatment plans, and monitors patient progress.
  • Administers medications safely and educates patients on their prescribed treatments.
  • Documents patient care accurately and ensures continuity of care.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Assists in staff assignments and delegation of duties.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development and maintains licensure.

Requirements

  • Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment and manage patient escalations.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and special needs populations.
  • Knowledge of normal physical and emotional development.
  • Self-confidence and ability to lead and direct others.
  • CPR certification and completion of an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

  • Willingness to assist staff and patients.

Work Environment

  • Subject to many interruptions.
  • Pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
  • 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Might experience high-paced and stressful situations.
  • Requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a protected environment from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
