About the role

The Registered Nurse at Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Tupelo is responsible for managing the milieu and directing patient care activities. They provide comprehensive care, assess patients, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes. This position requires a strong understanding of psychiatric disorders and the ability to prescribe appropriate nursing interventions.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Identifies and manages patient risks, develops individualized care plans, and ensures patient safety.
• Administers medications safely, educates patients on their medications, and monitors for adverse reactions.
• Documents patient care accurately and promptly, including symptoms, responses, and progress.
• Maintains professional development and adheres to regulatory requirements.
• Assists in staff assignments and delegation of duties, ensuring patient care continuity.
• Floats among various clinical services as needed.

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing, with one year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment, communicate effectively, and handle unpredictable patient behavior.
• Basic knowledge of normal physical and emotional development, critical thinking skills, and self-confidence.
• CPR certification and participation in an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
