Registered Nurse PRN Days

About the role

The Registered Nurse at Oceans Behavioral Hospital is responsible for leading patient care activities, assessing patients, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. This position requires a strong understanding of psychiatric disorders and the ability to provide appropriate nursing interventions.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Identifies risk levels and expected outcomes for individual patients
• Administers medications safely and educates patients on prescribed medications
• Documents care accurately and comprehensively in medical records
• Communicates patient needs and responsibilities to staff to ensure continuity of care
• Delegates tasks appropriately and assists staff as needed
• Participates in staff assignments and float among various clinical services

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing
• One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written
• Understanding and sensitivity to serving culturally diverse and special needs populations
• Ability to cope with high stress and unpredictable patient behavior
• CPR certification and completion of an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program
