About the role

The Registered Nurse at Oceans Behavioral Hospital DeRidder is responsible for leading patient care activities and implementing individualized plans of care. This position requires a strong foundation in psychiatric nursing and the ability to handle a high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Identifies and manages patient risks, including those related to psychiatric disorders.
• Administers medications safely and educates patients on their prescribed treatments.
• Evaluates patient progress and adjusts interventions as necessary to promote wellness.
• Documents patient care accurately and ensures continuity of care.
• Communicates with staff and patients to ensure effective care coordination.
• Adapts to a fast-paced environment and handles patient escalations effectively.

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
• One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge of normal physical and emotional development.
• CPR certification and participation in an approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
