Location: Plaza 4, Sioux Falls | Regular position, Day Shift
About the Role
Float to different specialty clinics in Sioux Falls.

Performs selected medical assistant and clerical duties that assist in care for clinic patients following established standards, practices, and competency. Works collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice-related problems. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.
Responsibilities
- Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency.
- Provides accurate, completed, legible, and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record.
- Maintains timely flow of patients.
- Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
- Responsible for assisting with patient and family education to include procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes, and maintenance of health and wellness, etc., based on competency.
- Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collecting history and vital signs.
- Labels and processes lab specimens according to lab procedures.
- Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials.
- Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance.
- Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment according to policy.
- Follows correct procedures for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste.
- Provides back-up help for front desk personnel, including answering telephone, scheduling and canceling appointments, and scheduling consult patients.
Requirements
- Active license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice upon hire (Board of Nursing).
- Certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant from one of the following upon hire:
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Ability to work the specified hours.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or graduate of a Medical Assistant program.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $40.75. Actual pay rate is dependent upon experience.
