Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Manager

About the role
The Nurse Manager is accountable for the management and leadership of a specific nursing unit. This position evaluates available resources and delegates appropriately to assure quality outcomes of care. They also direct and implement the nursing process, including systematic data collection, assessment, development of care plans, implementation, and revision of plans. The Nurse Manager manages and supervises the care of residents through a well-defined care delivery system.
Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Care Planning: Collect and analyze resident data, assess needs, and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team; monitor and revise plans as resident conditions change.
- Clinical Nursing Practice: Provide and supervise nursing care in accordance with state/federal regulations and facility policies, including medication administration, lab draws, and nursing procedures; ensure residents’ rights and autonomy are respected.
- Staff Supervision and Management: Supervise RNs, LPNs, and CNAs; delegate tasks, evaluate performance, correct unprofessional behavior, ensure safe staffing, and provide guidance during emergencies or when on call.
- Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate resident records, charts, and reports; communicate resident care needs, physician orders, and dietary recommendations effectively to staff and the interdisciplinary team.
- Medication and Pharmaceutical Compliance: Administer and monitor medications according to policy, maintain proper documentation, follow controlled substance procedures, and ensure adherence to safety and error-free standards.
- Facility Compliance and Professional Development: Promote a positive workplace culture, participate in QA programs, continuing education, and audits; maintain current licensure and knowledge of health regulations, infection control, and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
- Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and emergency care for the health care provider (completed or actively seeking).
- Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility, or assisted living community.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree.
