About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of healthcare services. As a Registered Nurse in Intermediate Care (PCU), you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers, serving as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with acute and/or chronic diagnoses in our critical care step-down unit, serving cardiology and medical/surgical patients who may require telemetry or bedside monitoring. This is a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment with opportunities for growth and development, including the Critical Care Internship.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient-centered nursing care and participate in patient and family education.
  • Monitor heart rhythms, titrate select drips, and utilize critical thinking to manage patient care.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans.
  • Utilize computerized documentation systems to monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions.
  • Coordinate patient discharge planning with members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain cultural awareness when interacting with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other customers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
  • 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
