About the Role
The Progressive Care (Step Down) Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills, acting as the service line between Med-Surg and ICU units, determining the priority of patient problems and needs, developing and performing patient care plans, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
- Serve as the point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
- Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
- Administer medications safely in accordance with the State of Practice and organizational policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred, not required)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required at hire; must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (preferred at hire; required within 6 months of hire)
- 1 year of RN experience (required)
- 6 months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
