Registered Nurse (RN) - Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) - Southside Medical Center
About the role
The Progressive Care (Step down) Registered Nurse (RN) position at Southside Medical Center is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:
- Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
- Acting as the service line between Med-Surg and ICU units
- Determining the priority of the patient’s problems and needs
- Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
- Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures
Requirements
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire)
- 1 year of RN experience (required)
- 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required)
Skills
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to assess patient status
- Experience acting as a service line between Med-Surg and ICU units
- Ability to determine patient needs and develop care plans
- Knowledge of medication administration and safety practices

Pay
Range Minimum: $34.33
Range Maximum: $54.93
Schedule
Day shift: up to $10k bonus
Night shift: up to $15k bonus
