Registered Nurse (RN) ICU

About the role

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Spring View Hospital is a 7-bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support. This position is part of a diverse healthcare delivery network with facilities coast to coast.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates professional development and clinical competency; utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Aids patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Manages ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, VAP therapies.
• Titrates and maintains critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Passes a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

Requirements

• RN license required.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS is required within 12 months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.

Schedule

Part-time 24 hours/week 7p-7a Saturday & Sunday
