Responsibilities

  • Develops a nursing diagnosis; establishes nursing care objectives; defines nursing interventions.
  • Provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to help them understand patient conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Notes changing conditions and needs; re-evaluates care objectives.
  • Reviews physician prescriptions and communicates the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team.
  • Coordinates with other healthcare providers and provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; confers with physicians.
  • Obtains medical histories; examines patients; documents patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; confers with family and friends.
  • Establishes patient care goals; instructs patient, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answers questions; provides information and resources.
  • Adheres to therapeutic standards; measures health outcomes against patient care standards; reviews patient records; notes changing conditions and needs; re-evaluates and modifies nursing care plan.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; adhering to organization standards, policies, and legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Keeps patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; stocking items.
  • Performs with minimal supervision and demonstrates knowledge of several departments.
  • Utilizes safe and appropriate patient care protocol as set forth in the standards of practice and the unit/department policy and procedures.
  • Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing.
  • An active license in the state of practice upon hire.

Qualifications

  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
  • Ability to work the hours specified.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.

Schedule

Primarily days with rotating weekends and holidays.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $34.50 – $51.50 per hour; actual pay rate dependent upon experience.
