Responsibilities
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Makes rounds to assess patient status and updates the care plan accordingly.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Requirements
An associate's degree from an accredited nursing school is required. A bachelor's degree is preferred. Must have a current Michigan RN license.
Qualifications
One to two years of inpatient med/surg or critical care experience is preferred.
Skills
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification is required within 90 days of hire. Additional certifications may be required within one year of hire:
- Handle with Care- Advanced
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
