As a Registered Nurse (RN) in Emergency Screening at RWJBarnabas Health, you will help advance patient care and strengthen the experience of individuals and families. This role offers growth, supportive teamwork, and a culture committed to safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for patients.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care grounded in strong clinical judgment.
• Serve as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions.
• Provide clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety.
• Contribute your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care.
• Take an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes.
• Pursue continued professional growth through access to continuing education, clinical ladder opportunities, and organizational resources.

Requirements

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required or actively enrolled in a BSN program with an expected completion date.
• One year of experience as a Behavioral Health RN.
• Comfortable with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC.

Schedule

• Per diem role, scheduled as needed with a minimum requirement of 3 shifts per month.
• Monday - Friday, with every other weekend required.
• Must work 1 winter and 1 summer holiday.

Pay

The anticipated hourly wage range for this position in New Jersey is $47.85 - $67.04 per hour. The compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s educational background, skills, and professional experience.
