The Trinitas Department of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry, part of Trinitas Regional Medical Center and an RWJBarnabas Health facility, offers comprehensive treatments for daily stress, aging challenges, child development, and chemical dependency alternatives. With specialized care for adults, children, adolescents, and families, including provisions for mentally ill/developmentally-disabled individuals in a 98-bed inpatient facility, we serve individuals from Union County and across New Jersey.
Providing over 200,000 outpatient visits annually, our services range from Mobile Crisis Units to Inpatient and Outpatient care, staffed by a diverse, multidisciplinary team of practitioners, including bilingual staff. Renowned for excellence and innovation, we lead in areas such as inpatient psychiatric care for individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-focused residential programs for adolescent girls, making us one of New Jersey’s premier hospital-based Behavioral Health providers.
The Trinitas Psychiatric Emergency Room offers 7 beds and provides evaluations and stabilization for patients in psychiatric crisis 24 hours a day. Our team has the skills and experience to help patients of every ethnic and socio-economic background who are struggling with a range of psychiatric issues, including anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder, cognitive and memory problems, substance abuse disorders, and psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia.
About the Role
The PD RN will provide direct patient care in the Emergency Screening area, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients. This includes conducting assessments, administering medications, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients to determine their level of need and appropriate treatment plan
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and document all actions taken
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families
- Document all patient interactions and treatment plans accurately and timely
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain competency in behavioral health practices
Requirements
- ASN or Nursing Diploma is required
- BLS through American Heart Association required upon hire
- ACLS Certification required within 6 months of hire
- New Jersey State Registered Nurse License or approved Compact License with New Jersey endorsement required
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Behavioral Health required; ER or Emergency Nursing Experience a plus
- Psychiatric - Mental Health certifications and/or national nursing certifications a plus
