Registered Nurse (RN) Psychiatric Emergency Screening (Per Diem)

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Behavioral Health Unit at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000-square-foot building with a private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and newly expanded Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and maintains ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• Ensures safety in practice by recognizing limitations of knowledge and experience, and advances knowledge through communication and utilization of available resources.
• Reports identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
• Maintains knowledge of the patient population served.
• Supervises and directs delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• Sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• Acts as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager, utilizing the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and individualizing the plan of care to address specific patient needs.

Requirements

• ASN or Nursing Diploma; BSN preferred.
• Active RN License or approved compact license required.
• BLS from the American Heart Association is required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
• Minimum one (1) year of current/previous Behavioral Health Nursing experience required.

Schedule

• Per Diem Night Shift
• Must be available to work one (1) weekend shift per month.
• Must be available to work 2 shifts a month Monday–Friday.
• Summer holidays: Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day
• Winter holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day

Pay

$47.62 – $63.73 per hour (anticipated hourly wage range for New Jersey; final compensation depends on education, skills, and professional experience).
