Responsibilities

  • Conduct individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on immediate patient needs and collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Monitor and document patient condition, assessment findings, and responses to nursing interventions and progress toward problem resolution.
  • Perform treatments and administer medications accurately and in a timely manner per order and policy.
  • Deliver therapeutic nursing interventions with age and cultural competence tailored to the patient and family's individualized plan of care.
  • Observe and interpret patient symptoms and communicate them to providers and staff during SBAR reports.
  • Supervise assigned team members and be accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered in the emergency department setting.
  • Provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.

Education Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an acute care critical care setting preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient and family diversity, preserving autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking abilities with patient care, critical test results, provider contacts, and Administrative House Supervisors.
  • Document critical test results per policy.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse license from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 30 days
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 1 year
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) from the Emergency Nurse Association required within 2 years
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association preferred
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center preferred within 2 years
