Responsibilities
- Conduct individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on immediate patient needs and collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Monitor and document patient condition, assessment findings, and responses to nursing interventions and progress toward problem resolution.
- Perform treatments and administer medications accurately and in a timely manner per order and policy.
- Deliver therapeutic nursing interventions with age and cultural competence tailored to the patient and family's individualized plan of care.
- Observe and interpret patient symptoms and communicate them to providers and staff during SBAR reports.
- Supervise assigned team members and be accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered in the emergency department setting.
- Provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.
Education Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Previous experience in an acute care critical care setting preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient and family diversity, preserving autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- Demonstrate critical thinking abilities with patient care, critical test results, provider contacts, and Administrative House Supervisors.
- Document critical test results per policy.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse license from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 30 days
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 1 year
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) from the Emergency Nurse Association required within 2 years
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association preferred
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center preferred within 2 years
