Registered Nurse (RN) - Director Labor and Delivery - $30-42 per hour

About the role

Baptist Health System - San Antonio TX is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Director of Labor and Delivery for a staff position in Brownsville, Texas. The role is ongoing and reports to the Chief Nursing Officer, providing leadership and support for all nursing and designated patient care functions within the hospital organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice on a multi‑unit level.
• Assume 24/7 responsibility for the Director’s assigned areas.
• Support the CNO to ensure high‑quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care.
• Ensure competency of clinical staff and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
• Provide leadership and support to the senior executive (CNO) responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions/services.

Requirements

• Active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence/practice.
• Bachelor's Degree in nursing (required).
• Master's Degree in nursing, business, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or director (required).
• Experience working in women’s services (labor and delivery, mother/baby, NICU) (required).
• Preferred: Experience with high‑acuity NICU or complex cases.
• Current licensure, certification, or registration to practice nursing as required by state law, regulation, or policy.
• AHA BLS certification.
