Detroit Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Nurse Coordinator for a nursing position at DMC Harper University/Hutzel Women's Hospital in Hamtramck, Michigan. The role combines staff nursing duties with shift leadership responsibilities, including coordinating care delivery, scheduling staff, evaluating patient care, and participating in process improvement and staff development.
Responsibilities
In addition to the staff nurse role, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator assumes shift responsibilities for the care delivery team. This includes coordinating and scheduling staff, prioritizing, delegating and evaluating patient care, assisting in process improvement activities, working with the interdisciplinary team to resolve system and unit-based issues, providing input into nursing staff performance appraisals, assisting with staff educational requirements, participating in unit and hospital activities, and demonstrating commitment to personal and professional goals.
- Functions as lead and resource person for nursing personnel; acts as a clinical resource person and assists the clinical manager in planning and facilitating staff meetings and staff development.
- Collaborates with manager in prospective monitoring of the schedule to assure adequate nurse‑patient ratio on a given shift; reviews monthly schedule and communicates with staffing office regarding staffing changes.
- Facilitates shared decision making among staff; facilitates unit throughput on a given shift to improve length of stay (LOS).
- Coordinates/provides in‑service programs to assist staff to maintain or enhance competence based on identified needs of patient care personnel.
