Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health (BHU) - Flexi/PRN

About the role

The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) at Sentara Obici Hospital is a licensed 20-bed unit that sees dual diagnosis behavioral health patients including bi-polar, schizophrenia, major depression, and substance abuse. The unit is a low to moderate acuity locked unit with high customer service and employee engagement scores.

Responsibilities

• Perform a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including mental health techs, LPNs, Behavioral Health Therapists, Recreational Therapists, Nurse Practitioners, and Psychiatrists.
• Engage in group therapy sessions on the unit.

Requirements

• Registered nursing license (Required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
• Experience in acute care preferred

Qualifications

• Education: Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing
• Certification: BLS required within 90 days of hire

Skills

Nurses must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
