Registered Nurse (RN) Behavioral Health PRN

Schedule

12‑hour shifts (PRN).

Pay

Hourly range: $31.49 – $42.51 per hour.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Behavioral Health unit, you will help provide safe, quality, and compassionate care to patients close to home. You will be part of Sovah Health’s mission to make communities healthier, delivering care with skill, compassion, and dedication.

Team

The Behavioral Health unit is a 24‑bed unit that emphasizes teamwork and a shared goal of delivering safe, high‑quality, compassionate care.

Responsibilities

• Perform plan‑of‑care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Document patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
• Assess learning needs and deliver age‑ and culture‑appropriate patient and family education.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Participate in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.

Requirements

• Active Virginia RN license (single‑state) or compact license; if relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
• Associate’s degree in nursing (required).
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
• Previous experience in an acute‑care hospital setting preferred.
