About the role

The Registered Nurse at Oceans Behavioral Hospital DeRidder is a key member of the healthcare team, focusing on providing comprehensive psychiatric care to adults and seniors. The role involves leading milieu management, implementing individualized care plans, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Identifies and manages patient risks, develops discharge plans, and monitors patient progress.
• Administers medications safely, educates patients on their medications, and identifies adverse reactions.
• Documents patient care accurately and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
• Communicates with staff and patients to maintain continuity of care and address patient needs.
• Assists in staff assignments and delegation of duties while promoting a positive work environment.
• Participates in float assignments across various clinical services.

Requirements

• Current, active RN license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
• One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to handle high-stress environments and assess patient risks.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Understanding of cultural diversity and special needs populations.
• Knowledge of normal physical and emotional development.
• Self-confidence and ability to lead and direct others.
• CPR certification and completion of an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
