Registered Nurse PRN Nights

About the role

The Registered Nurse at Oceans Behavioral Hospital is responsible for leading patient care activities, assessing patients, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. This position requires a strong understanding of psychiatric disorders and the ability to provide appropriate nursing interventions.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to develop individualized plans of care and treatment modalities.
• Identifies risk levels, precautions, and expected outcomes for each patient.
• Administers medications safely and educates patients on prescribed medications.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and documents care thoroughly.
• Communicates with staff and patients to ensure continuity of care.
• Floats among various clinical services and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
• One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
• High stress environment with potential for patient escalation.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Sensitivity to serving culturally diverse and special needs populations.
• Ability to cope with high stress and unpredictable patient behavior.
• CPR certification and completion of an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
