Registered Nurse PRN Nights

About the role

The Registered Nurse at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Lake Charles is responsible for leading patient care activities, assessing patients, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. This position requires a strong background in psychiatric nursing and the ability to work in a high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Maintains standards of professional nursing practice and implements interventions to promote patient wellness
• Administers medications safely and educates patients on prescribed medications
• Documents patient care accurately and ensures continuity of care
• Communicates with staff and patients to provide support and advocacy
• Floats among various clinical services and performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing
• One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred
• Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and appropriate nursing interventions
• Effective communication skills and ability to handle high-stress situations
• Critical thinking and self-confidence
• CPR certification and participation in an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program
