Role Overview

The Patient Flow Coordinator manages patient movement within the department, collaborating with staff and leadership to optimize throughput and ensure quality care. They serve as a role model in professional practice, maintaining effective communication, resource utilization, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient placement based on acuity and monitor volumes to facilitate timely care.
• Communicate patient flow updates and issues to relevant personnel and Emergency Department leadership.
• Assist with bed availability coordination, addressing delays, and facilitating transfers using tele-tracking tools.
• Ensure smooth discharge processes, room turnover, and removal of barriers to expedite patient care.
• Provide comprehensive reports on patient status, bed availability, and pending needs to team members.
• Collaborate with ancillary departments and transportation services to optimize patient movement.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to serve as a leadership representative and handle process improvement initiatives
• Work typically performed in a clinical environment, adhering to organizational policies
