Registered Nurse - Patient Flow Coordinator (ED)

About the role

This position is responsible for coordinating patient flow and throughput in the department, collaborating with healthcare team members, and ensuring efficient utilization of resources to deliver high-quality patient care. The role focuses on process improvement, patient safety, and interdepartmental collaboration to optimize patient care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating effective communication, resource management, and organizational skills.
• Monitor patient volumes, coordinate patient placement based on acuity, and communicate pertinent information to staff and leadership.
• Assist with bed availability, address delays, and facilitate transfers by collaborating with ancillary departments and utilizing tele-tracking systems.
• Provide comprehensive reports on patient status, bed availability, and department needs to ensure smooth patient flow and timely discharges.
• Coordinate transportation and remove barriers to expedite patient care and provider orders.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)

• Ability to work in a clinical environment, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.

Schedule

The role involves working primarily during evening and night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
