Registered Nurse - Patient Flow Coordinator

About the role

The Patient Flow Coordinator manages patient movement within the department, collaborating with staff and leadership to optimize patient throughput, resource utilization, and quality metrics.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient volumes and coordinate placement based on acuity levels.
• Communicate effectively with team members regarding patient flow, delays, and bed availability.
• Coordinate with ancillary departments and transportation services to facilitate timely patient transfers and discharges.
• Utilize tele‑tracking and collaborate with charge nurses to identify available beds and ensure smooth patient movement.
• Provide comprehensive handoffs to incoming coordinators, including updates on room status, critical patients, and pending dispositions.
• Assist in removing barriers to expedite patient care and provider orders.
• Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (required); Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and handle high‑pressure situations.

Schedule

Typical shift is from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including every other weekend and holiday duties.
