About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides excellent, clinically competent patient care by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The RN effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and other healthcare team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

The RN determines the effectiveness of nursing interventions by evaluating outcomes in relation to evidence-based intervention. The primary focus is to ensure every patient receives quality care and services through the efficient use of resources. The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association and the Nurse Practice Act of Virginia.

As a member of the healthcare team, the RN makes decisions and performs services in the best interest of the patient, positively contributing to the patient's experience and the success of the team by prioritizing the patient and team above individual needs.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation) to provide patient care.
  • Interact effectively with patients, significant others, and healthcare team members.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions using evidence-based outcomes.
  • Ensure quality care and efficient use of resources for every patient.
  • Make decisions and perform services in the best interest of the patient.
  • Contribute positively to the patient's experience and the success of the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Virginia or a compact state.
  • Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must obtain ACLS and PALS certifications within 120 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Experience in specialty areas (may require additional certifications or qualifications).
