REGISTERED NURSE MANAGER - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

About the Role

The Registered Nurse Manager for the Emergency Services Department provides leadership and management for the clinical service area, overseeing patient care, department operations, and staff. This role serves as a professional role model, clinical resource, and liaison with medical staff while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and budgetary constraints.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the clinical service area, focusing on patient care continuity.
• Oversee clinical, financial, environmental, and employee-related functions of the department.
• Act as a professional role model and clinical resource for staff, liaising with medical personnel.
• Maintain department operations within budget and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Integrate department services with the hospital’s primary functions and coordinate with other departments.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to guide service provision.
• Recommend, hire, and evaluate qualified staff to meet patient and non-patient care needs.
• Provide orientation, in-service training, continuing education, and annual evaluations for personnel.
• Oversee disciplinary processes and employee terminations within the department.
• Ensure staff receives ongoing updates and information at the department and hospital levels.

Requirements

• 2 years of recent (within the last year) Acute Care ED Charge RN experience with strong ED background.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate Degree or Registered Nurse Diploma.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (must be obtained within 90 days of employment).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (must be obtained within 1 year of employment).
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (must be obtained within 1 year of employment).
