Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

About the role
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Labor and Delivery (L&D) unit, you will coordinate and provide patient care for all assigned patients. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting initial and ongoing assessment of the patient and family
- Developing an individualized patient care plan
- Providing family-centered patient teaching
- Identifying and correcting variances from the patient care plan
- Facilitating discharge planning and teaching
- Completing an admission interview upon patient arrival and documenting the patient assessment
- Identifying changes in the patient’s condition and acting promptly to report changes to the physician or charge nurse
- Assessing and documenting patient educational needs and instructions given upon admission and throughout hospitalization
- Providing psychological and social support to the patient and family
- Facilitating interdisciplinary discharge planning
- Accurately administering and legibly documenting medications
- Keeping the physician and/or Clinical Nurse Coordinator aware of significant information or changes related to the patient and family
- Continuously evaluating the plan of care to determine need for modifications
- Providing individualized nursing interventions based on the plan of care and documenting patient responses to interventions
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date)
- Neonatal Resuscitation (must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date)
- 1 year of experience
