Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit (3 South). This full-time day shift position offers a rotating weekend schedule and includes a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 for qualified candidates.

About the role

The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit provides specialized care for patients with cardiac conditions such as heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, post‑coronary interventions, post‑ablation care, and myocardial infarctions, as well as pre‑ and post‑catheterization patients and those experiencing acute stroke.

Registered Nurse Transition to Practice Programs

  • 6-Month Program for RNs with less than 12 months experience or transitioning to a new practice area
  • General Nursing Orientation
  • Specialty Clinical Track Residency
  • Professional Development Sessions
  • Mentoring and Unit-based Preceptor

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse performs competent nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The role adheres to professional standards of practice and performance encompassing ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health.

Education

  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
  • BSN or MSN preferred

Certification/Licensure

  • BLS within 90 days of hire
  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
  • NIH within 1 year of hire

Experience

  • Acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
  • New Grad RNs welcome
