Responsibilities
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Nurse is responsible for a variety of activities aimed at reducing the risk of infection transmission to patients, visitors and employees. IPAC implements activities which include:
- Collection and analysis of infection data.
- Development and review of policies.
- Consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
- Education efforts directed at interventions to reduce infection risks.
- Implementation of changes mandated by regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies.
- Application of epidemiological principles, including activities directed at improving patient outcomes.
- Supports activities that include participation on committees, work projects and research.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Nursing, required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum one year of RN experience.
- Knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, and/or infection prevention and control required.
- Acute care experience within the last 2 years preferred.
- Adapts to unpredictable situations related to infection prevention and control.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Works flexible hours that may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Current Arizona registered nurse licensure required.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred on hire and required within 3 years of employment.
- Experienced in infection prevention, certification preferred.
