About the role
The RN utilizes the Nursing Process in a collaborative manner to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in accordance with his/her scope of practice. The RN supports the goals and philosophy of the Department of Nursing within the St. Joseph's Healthcare System and on his/her assigned unit.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the Nursing Process in a collaborative manner to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in accordance with his/her scope of practice.
- Serves as a resource to other members of the healthcare team.
- Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and rounds of care conferences.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
- Assesses patient needs and develops individualized care plans.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions and makes adjustments as necessary.
- Documents all nursing activities accurately and timely.
- Adheres to infection control protocols and maintains a clean, safe environment.
- Provides patient education and promotes health literacy.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects.
Requirements
- Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey.
- Successful completion of department specific orientation and the following department specific certifications of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) within one year of hire.
- Effective January 2019, St. Joseph’s Health requires certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be granted through the American Heart Association.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- Successfully completed department-specific orientation and certifications of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts related to nursing practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards.

Pay
St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc.
