About the Role

Cardiac Telemetry (3 Telemetry) is a 25-30 bed acute care unit specializing in cardiac diagnoses such as heart failure, irregular cardiac rhythms, and heart attacks. The unit also serves as the primary stroke unit in the hospital. This fast-paced environment offers a wide range of diagnoses to experience and skills to develop. The team values collaboration, communication, and patient-centered care, with nurses acting as respected clinical partners whose work directly influences diagnostic quality and treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment, assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Develop, update, and coordinate patient care plans to achieve goals and optimize outcomes across the care continuum.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions effectively.
  • Maintain essential competencies required for the specific area of hire and population served.
  • Advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote patient autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs.
  • Foster a learning environment for patients, families, nursing staff, healthcare team members, and the community.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice and data to improve patient outcomes, ensuring alignment with safety and quality standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, practicing at the top of your license within legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Demonstrate leadership as a change agent, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and delegate care.
  • Participate in planning and presenting educational programs.
  • Utilize information technology, such as electronic health records and communication systems, proficiently.
  • Work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.
  • Use independent, critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery.
  • Manage multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations with a positive and supportive attitude.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • BSN in Nursing preferred; any previously agreed-upon timeline for obtaining a BSN remains in effect.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications are unit-dependent.
  • At least one year of RN experience, or transition from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program with less than one year of experience.
