About the role
Nurses at Matheny assume respected leadership roles as part of our medical team with shared decision-making responsibilities. Nursing at Matheny is a challenging and rewarding experience, where nurses make a difference through compassion and expertise. We follow a unit-based model of care, with a nurse manager overseeing each residential unit. Each patient has a primary nurse who coordinates all care needs, working closely with paraprofessional staff, families, and an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates effective assessment skills by collecting and analyzing data, interviewing, observing, and examining patients, and reviewing medical records.
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate the plan of care for patients served.
- Formulates a comprehensive and unique plan of care for each patient; monitors outcomes and revises the plan as needed.
- Demonstrates critical thinking to determine appropriate nursing interventions and collaborates with physicians or other clinicians as needed.
- Supervises PCA staff/unlicensed assistive personnel in direct patient care, including ADLs, bathing, and assisting with eating.
- Oversees proper infection control practices within the work environment.
- Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team, including therapies, social services, physicians, psychology, clinical nutrition, and direct support professionals.
- Communicates with families/guardians on all patient-related issues.
- Performs additional responsibilities in emergency situations, including covering for staff absences or shortages, which may require additional weekend or holiday time.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university (required).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university (preferred).
- Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse by the State of New Jersey Board of Nursing (required).
- Current CPR Certification (required).
- ACLS and/or PALS certification (preferred).
- IV certification (preferred).

Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $44.50 - $48.75 per hour.
Schedule
Full-Time, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM shift.
