Job Summary
Administers/Implements the Risk Management Program for all operating divisions of Liberty Healthcare Group (including Home care, hospice, LTC, and Senior Living).
Responsibilities
- Affirms operating risks involving clinical (patient care and regulatory), business (safety/WC), and legal (claims processing/investigation) risk exposures and liabilities.
- Serves as a liaison with corporate management, employees, insurance companies, and regulatory/legal agencies to minimize asset losses through the establishment of comprehensive policies, procedures, ongoing audits, best practices, and consistent quality improvement.
- Implements systems, policies, and procedures for the identification, collection, and analysis of risk-related information.
- Edifies leadership, staff and business associates, and helps to define their respective roles in supporting the risk management program.
- Leads facilities, and advises departments in designing risk management programs within their own departments.
- Captures, evaluates, and maintains data concerning patient injuries and care metrics, liability claims, worker’s compensation, and other risk related data.
- Investigates and analyzes root causes, patterns, or trends that could result in compensatory or sentinel events. Helps to identify and implement corrective action where appropriate.
- Provides timely reports to Director of Risk Management on incidents, site visits, claims and claims payments.
- Collaborates with legal counsel to coordinate investigation, processing, and defenses to claims made against the organization.
- Participates actively in facilities committees related to risk management, safety, and quality improvement.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree or related clinical or allied health field (NP, FNP, GNP, or PA).
- Prior experience in LTC, home care, and/or hospice environment and current certification as a nursing home administrator preferred.
- Certified Risk Manager or capable of attaining professional certification within 12 months of employment.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in one or more of the following fields; Risk Management, QI/QA, Healthcare Administration, Insurance investigation/Settlement.
- A minimum of 7 years of direct risk management experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
