Regional Housing Coordinator

About the role

The Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG) is seeking a Regional Housing Coordinator to support local and regional housing initiatives across the Greater Lowell region. This position will assist municipalities with affordable housing planning, zoning, housing programs, public engagement, and implementation of housing policies and initiatives related to M.G.L. Chapter 40B and related programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist municipalities with affordable housing planning, zoning, housing programs, public engagement, and implementation of housing policies and initiatives related to M.G.L. Chapter 40B and related programs.
  • Support regional housing initiatives and collaborate with other organizations to enhance housing opportunities in the Greater Lowell area.
  • Conduct research and analysis on housing trends and policy issues relevant to the region.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including municipal officials, community groups, and developers.
  • Prepare and present reports and recommendations to NMCOG boards and committees.
  • Coordinate with NMCOG staff and external partners to ensure effective implementation of housing policies and initiatives.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Real Estate Development, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in housing development, community planning, or related field.
  • Experience working with local government agencies and community organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with GIS software.

Qualifications

  • Experience with M.G.L. Chapter 40B and related housing programs.
  • Knowledge of housing policy and planning best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with public speaking and presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
