Responsible for the promotion of Walgreen’s specialty pharmacy services to targeted physicians, nurses, practice managers, and other referral sources in an assigned territory. Works with clients to support and understand their overall business objectives and critical success factors. Establishes and utilizes professional relationships, internally and externally, to generate support for key initiatives, challenges, and opportunities within the territory. Develops and implements strategies and tactics to consistently meet or exceed quarterly sales goals. Collaborates across a highly matrixed field organization including store operations, managed markets sales, government affairs, and other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Business Acumen - Demonstrates analytical, marketplace, and clinical knowledge required for developing strategies that grow referrals. Exhibits strong technical proficiency in the specialty pharmacy space and Walgreens’ services. Understands the competitive landscape and market access environment to position Walgreens effectively. Uses analytical tools to identify opportunities and challenges within the territory and build action plans.
  • Business Planning - Builds, adapts, and follows through on effective business plans to achieve and exceed quarterly sales goals. Reevaluates and adjusts plans based on changing market conditions. Prioritizes efforts to maximize return on investment and productivity.
  • Account Management - Uses available information to understand customer needs and identify opportunities. Develops account-specific strategies and goals to grow or stabilize each account. Tracks progress and adjusts plans as needed.
  • Influence and Impact - Utilizes a variety of communication methods, selling skills, and promotional tools to influence results. Adapts messaging and style based on customer relationships. Shares information about Walgreens’ Specialty Pharmacy services to build trust and secure customer commitment.
  • Business Partnering - Leverages internal resources such as Retail Management, Community Pharmacy, Central Fill, Sales Operations, Marketing, senior management, clinical staff, and other functions to address customer issues and expand local business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of pharmaceutical or healthcare sales experience or High School Diploma/GED and at least 10 years of pharmaceutical or healthcare sales experience.
  • Experience with advanced selling skills promoting products or services to diverse healthcare professionals (e.g., physicians, hospitals, case managers, nurses, clinics).
  • Experience developing strategic business plans to hit financial targets within a multi-million-dollar territory.
  • Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues, and recommending strategies to address them.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to meet departmental and organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry, specialty pharmacy, and payer segments, including billing procedures for hospitals, medical offices, and Medicare (B/D benefits).
  • Experience analyzing and reporting sales data to identify trends, issues, or exceptions and drive improvements.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines for multiple projects.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft Excel (e.g., using SUM function, setting borders, inserting charts, sorting, setting headers/footers).
  • Basic skill in Microsoft Word (e.g., opening documents, formatting text, using spell check, track changes).
  • Basic skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (e.g., creating slides, inserting tables, running slide shows).
  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership, or cross-functional team leadership experience.
  • Willingness to travel at least 75% of the time for business purposes (within and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with experience calling on HIV, Hep-C, and chronic inflammatory disease specialists.
  • Experience working with case management, discharge planning, and other referral sources within a hospital infusion environment.
  • Experience selling in healthcare, managed care, or Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Experience working with community support groups for HIV and inflammatory diseases.

Pay

Salary range: $102,800 - $164,400 per year (salaried). The actual salary offered will depend on factors such as geography, skills, education, and experience.
