About the role

The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic welcomes applications for a Regional First-Year Admissions Counselor for the Madison/Milwaukee area. This 12-month, fully remote position reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions-Recruitment and plays a key role in recruitment and outreach activities. The goal is to increase applicants and enroll a talented, diverse student body by promoting educational opportunities at UW-Stout Polytechnic.

Candidate must be located in the Milwaukee/Madison area, able to travel up to 75% of the time throughout the region, and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for and develop admissions and outreach events.
  • Review, evaluate, and respond to student applications according to established policies and procedures.
  • Counsel prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities.
  • Supervise staff and/or lead a program area as needed.
  • Identify, promote, and maintain internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission.
  • Engage in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students.
  • Deliver directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences.
  • Create targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Schedule logistics and secure resources for events to promote the institution.
  • Meet with prospective students, families, high school counselors, alumni, and other contacts to nurture relationships and promote UW-Stout Polytechnic.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (must be posted by hire date).
  • Previous experience in admissions, recruiting, sales, education, or related fields.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and public speaking skills, including presenting to large and small groups.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time and work occasional evenings/weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UW-Stout gained through experience as a student, stakeholder, or employee.
  • Strong organizational and event planning skills.
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in learning multiple computer technologies (e.g., Salesforce, Peoplesoft, Microsoft Office Suite, Imaging Software).
  • Fluency in a second language.

Pay

Minimum starting salary of $50,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
