The Role
The Referral Triage Coordinator plays a critical role in our life-saving mission. Working in a collaborative call center environment, the Referral Triage Coordinator talks with family members of the donor and healthcare professionals to ensure medical suitability for donation.
Responsibilities
- Collect hospital and patient information and pre-screening criteria on all incoming donor calls
- Obtains and enters accurate referral information into the referral database
- Conducts conversation with appropriate family member to accurately compile the donor’s social and medical history
- Obtain Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) over the telephone and compile hospital medical records into the electronic record system
- Navigates through electronic medical records and the ability to understand and connect complex medical history
- Screens potential tissue donor with appropriate processor for suitability
- Communicates with Funeral Homes, Hospitals, and Medical Examiners/Coroners to ensure timely release of potential donors
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical environment or emergency response role required
- A background in and understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to navigate various EMR systems
Qualifications
- Schedule Weekend nights - three 12-hour shifts. (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) 6pm- 6am
