Referral Coordinator - Primary Care

About the role

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a customer‑focused Referral Coordinator to serve as a key connection between patients and their healthcare team. In this role, you’ll provide exceptional service by handling all aspects of the referral process, including authorizations and follow‑up.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance companies and obtain authorizations for specific plans.
• Educate patients and staff with pertinent referral and insurance information.
• Obtain urgent authorizations same day and next day.
• Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments.
• Answer questions, route calls appropriately, and relay messages to clinical staff.
• Verify patient registration and insurance information.
• Support referrals, authorizations, and patient outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
• Track the referrals until fulfilled by the patient.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with insurance referrals, prior authorization, or other relevant medical office experience.
