Responsibilities

• Triage inbound referrals from community providers to determine priority and appropriate scheduling guidelines.
• Accurately input referral details, including patient demographics, referral reason, referring provider information, and insurance information.
• Carefully coordinate outbound referrals to other specialties in a timely manner.
• Communicate with the patient and receiving offices, assist with scheduling and follow up on referrals within a designated timeframe.
• Manage the referring provider phone line to ensure that providers have access to our team for questions, provide referral updates and assist with scheduling requests.
• Provide referring provider support which may include referral related mailings, provider office visits and special events.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements for referrals and authorizations across all accepted insurance plans.
• Work directly with insurance providers to get approval for continued care or outside specialty care.
• Administer administrative tasks including medical record requests, manage referral documentation for tracking and other forms for patients.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• One to two years of experience in a medical office, referral coordination or patient access role is preferred.
• Proven track record of working well on teams and delivering excellence.
• Excellent verbal and written skills required.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with business hours Monday to Friday. This position is based out of our administrative office in Colorado Springs. This position may include travel to other Vanguard locations as well as travel across Southern Colorado for referring provider visits. This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of training.

Benefits

• Compensation is $20-$23 an hour (based on experience) with eligibility for overtime and paid time off.
• The practice covers a portion of the premium for medical benefits and offers vision, dental, and 401K.
