Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage patient referrals, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies to obtain necessary referral information.
- Schedule appointments for referred patients and provide them with necessary information regarding their visits.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all referrals and related documentation.
- Follow up with patients and providers to ensure completion of the referral process.
- Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to referrals.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, office staff, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
- Provide excellent customer service and support to patients and their families.
- Monitor and report referral activity, trends, and performance metrics to management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of referral policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality to ensure timely processing of patient referrals and uninterrupted support for providers, patients, and referring offices.
- Be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced medical environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Be proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and knowledgeable about insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations.
- Be able to work independently, collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative teams, protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations, and adapt to changing workflow demands.
