About the role
The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony is seeking a Full-Time Referral Coordinator to join our dynamic and supportive work environment. Responsibilities
- Congruently coordinate both internal and external referrals
- Process clinical orders and obtain insurance preauthorization
- Schedule appointments with in-network providers
- Establish strong relationships with specialty care offices
- Manage patient records to ensure complete and timely referrals
- Communicate with patients, providing essential referral details and support
- Handle transportation requests and educate patients about eligibility for the Purchase and Referred Care (PRC) Program and Tribal Medicaid FQHC referrals
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- Three years of experience in medical assistance, office referrals, or case management within a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in CPT and ICD-9 codes
- Familiarity with insurance benefits and Purchase and Referred Program requirements
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills
- Sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds and the needs of the Indian community
- Proficiency with Windows-based software, including Word, Excel, and Access
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare background
- Knowledge of various insurance benefits and Purchase and Referred Program requirements
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with people from diverse cultures, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Knowledge of records management and basic accounting procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with professional groups and health providers at all levels
- Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellence in everything and continual improvement in results
- Proficiency in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment (specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software such as PowerPoint)

Pay
Competitive pay range of $21.68 - $26.67 per hour, dependent on experience.
